Fine Wine Specialist for the Henry Wine Group, Long Beach, CA
I currently work as a Fine Wine Specialist for the Henry Wine Group, handling sales, education, and wine writing for key accounts such as Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa as well as wine bars and restaurants in Long Beach and Orange County. I have worn many different hats in my 18 years in the wine industry. Upon moving to Long Beach 5 years ago, I became the North American, German, and Austrian Wine Buyer for The Wine Country, Long Beach, 2014-2018. I have pursued formal wine education over my career and am a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers and have sat for Advanced Certification this past year. I hold the WSET (Wine and Spirits Education Trust) Certified Diploma with Honors and the Certificate of Viticulture and Enology, UC Davis, 2012. I am working towards Master of Wine with thesis research into Truth in Labeling Laws in the wine industry, drawing also from my background as an attorney.
I lived in Mendocino for 15 years during which period I worked for Navarro Winery and Vineyards in production, education and sales, 2011-2013. I was the Wine Director at The Stanford Inn by the Sea Resort at Big River, Mendocino from 2002-2010. I participate as a judge for many wine competitions including San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, 2018, Los Angeles International Wine Competition, 2017-2018, Pacific Rim International Wine Competition, 2016-2018, and Great Northwest Invitational Wine Competition, 2016. I had the honor of writing the tasting notes for the winning wines at Pac Rim, 2018. I enjoy teaching classes and have volunteered as a wine seminar instructor at the Los Angeles County Fair for the last two years. I am currently working on a book about the modern wine industry.
