Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Eric found his love of wine while working his way through school at the University of Michigan. As beverage manager for the area’s top catering facility, he was exposed to the first growths of Bordeaux and premier California wines. Upon graduation, Eric moved to New York City to work for a start-up software company but longed for a less Hi-tech and more Hi-touch career in a winery and decided study Viticulture and Enology at University of California – Davis. At Trefethen Family Vineyards in the Napa Valley, Eric learned firsthand the many decisions which result in balanced vines and quality wine grapes. Wanting to see the results of his work in the vineyard, Eric stayed on at Trefethen; first as a crush intern, then as Laboratory Assistant and Enologist. Ready for a chance to join a winemaking team, Eric became the Assistant Winemaker at Langtry Estate and Vineyards in 2007. Since then he has become Winemaker, and enjoys the challenge of exhibiting the estates’ diverse vineyards by making exceptional wines.
