Tasting on February 15, 2014.
2013 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
Public Tasting Winery Guidelines
Gold medal winners must be represented at the tasting, either by the
winery at their own purchased reserved table or by volunteers pouring
for wineries that cannot attend.
Tables at the Public Tasting are almost sold out. If you would like
to purchase a table, contact Teri Edens at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair:
707.894.3929.
Walk-ins without a paid-in-advance reservation will not be
accommodated.
2013 Wineries with a paid table reservation, please review the
following:
- Date and Time: February 16, 2013. Registration takes place from
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. NOTE: Tables not staffed by 1:00 p.m. will
be forfeited – please arrive promptly. Doors open to the public at
1:15 p.m. even though the published event time is 2:00 p.m. to 5:00
p.m.
- Location: Festival Pavilion, Fort Mason Center in San
Francisco. Wineries are responsible for transporting their own wine
to the tasting. Wine cannot be shipped to the tasting in
advance.
- Attendees: Maximum 2 staff per table.
Additional staff must
purchase tickets to attend.
- Plaques will be mailed to you directly by Crown Awards and will
arrive in advance of the tasting. All Silver and higher awards will
be on one plaque. Bronze awards are recognized on winejudging.com.
- Arrival: Drop-off wine in front of the Pavilion. Visit
this page for
details on parking and shuttles. After returning to Fort Mason,
follow the signs and enter the side of the building to complete
check-in.
- Unfortunately, due to new requirements from the management at
the Fort, ice will not be available in the Pavilion.
Please bring your own cooler and any ice that you may need. The
Marina Safeway across from Fort Mason is a nearby source for ice.
- To lessen our environmental impact, we changed to bottle-less
water several years ago. It is filtered and available at stations in
the Pavilion. If you wish to have water on your table, bring your
own pitcher. Otherwise, rinse with wine when necessary. Dump
buckets will be provided on each table.
- No sales of wine are permitted.
- There is no trade tasting before or during the event. The San
Francisco Chronicle is adamant that this tasting be strictly for the
public. Trade partners and friends must purchase a ticket if they
wish to taste at the event.
- Limit tastes to ¾ ounce. Stop pouring at 4:30 p.m. as required
by the ABC Temporary License. All bottles must be off of the table
at 5:00 p.m. Safety concerns and the law are paramount. Encourage
responsible tasting and discourage drunkenness.
Wineries that are not attending the Public Tasting, please
review the following:
Ship one case of Gold, Double Gold, BOC and Sweepstake winners to
be poured by volunteers at the tasting to Groskopf Warehouse, 20580
8th Street, Sonoma, CA 95476-9590, 707.939.3100.
The proceeds of this event benefit a number of collegiate wine
education programs as part of our commitment to the wine industry. The
non-profit organizers of the event are not affiliated with any wine
industry trade organization. More information and links to purchase
additional tickets are online at
winejudging.com.
