The Largest Competition of American Wines in
the World
January 12, 2007 CLOVERDALE, California
The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition,
presented by VISA Signature and the San Francisco
Chronicle, today announced the results of the 2007
competition. Fifty five professional wine judges
representing trade, education, media, retail, and
restaurants throughout the United States evaluated
3,800 wines at the Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds
this past week.
Wines were awarded as bronze, silver, gold, and
double gold (unanimous gold from all judges). Best
of Class awards were given for each specific wine
classification, and the prestigious Sweepstake
Winner awards for the top white, red, sparkling and
dessert/specialty wines.
We were pleased to see 3,800 wines entered by
1573 wineries from 20 states, said Bob Fraser,
Executive Director of the San Francisco Chronicle
Wine Competition. In such a short time, what
originally started out with only a handful of local
wines has evolved into a competition that is open to
wineries throughout the United States. This year, we
congratulate the following 2007 Sweepstake Winners:
- Sparkling Wine: 1999 Roederer Estate Brut,
Anderson Valley

largest competition of American wines in the world.
Founded in 1983 as the Cloverdale Citrus Fair Wine
