Record Number of Entries Being Judged at Competition

The 14th Annual San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition kicks off judging at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair this week with record breaking numbers – 5,825 entries. Held over four days, the judging began January 7 and will conclude on January 10 in Sonoma County, CA. This year, 65 experienced judges from across the country are evaluating particular varietals in a range of specific retail price points. To encourage a collaborative experience, judges are brought in from all areas of the wine industry including experts in the media, restaurant and hospitality, education, winemaking and retail outlets. Results will be announced on SFGate.com and winejudging.com after the final sweepstakes take place on Friday, Jan. 10th.

Award winning wines will be paired with gourmet foods at the annual Public Tasting that will take place on Feb. 15th from 1:30-5pm at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. The largest competition of American Wines in the World, the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Public Tasting is typically a sold out event, so guests are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time online at www.winejudging.com.
