Based in San Francisco, Steve Pitcher has been writing about wine since the late 1980s, initially as a columnist for six years in the San Francisco Chronicle, later for magazines and Internet publications. He's been a Contributing Editor for The Wine News since 1992, with many cover stories and special features to his credit, and since 2003, his cover stories have frequently appeared in the Chronicle's Wine Section. Steve regularly serves as a judge in several prominent wine competitions, and is president of the Bay Area Chapter of the German Wine Society.
