Ann Walker, Author, Educator Executive Chef and Owner, Ann Walker Catering.
Ann Walker is a caterer, food educator, restaurant consultant
and food writer. She began catering in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1976 and
has since catered thousands of private parties and corporate events. Her
approach to food is eclectic; she is constantly looking for new recipes and
travels widely in Europe and Latin America doing food research. Her cooking is
solidly based on the best and freshest ingredients she can find.
Ann teaches cooking classes and lectures on food and wine,
recently on a Royal Viking Queen Line cruise around the Iberian Peninsula,
at the Catalan cooking class series at Gloria Ferrer Winery and on the Home and
Garden Network. She is currently involved teaching young children and teens. Her
catering company has been named as one of the ten best catering companies in the
Bay Area by both the San Francisco Chronicle and Focus Magazine and has been
featured in articles in the Marin Independent Journal and other Bay Area
publications. Her line of fresh sauces-Saucy Lady- is now available in 100
outlets in Northern California.
She writes regularly on food and wine for a number of national
and international publications. With her husband, Larry, she has written "A
Season in Spain" published by Simon and Schuster in January, 1992 and "The
Pleasures of the Canary Islands" published by Wine Appreciation Guild in March
of 1992. Also, "Tequila: The Book" and "Tapas: The Book," published by Chronicle
Books in 1994 and "Best of California", published by Harper Collins, and "To the
Heart of Spain," published by Berkeley Hills Press in 1996. Ann is currently
researching and writing another cookbook on Mexican Fiestas and feast foods.
Her San Rafael restaurant, Cafe Tango, was the first tapas
restaurant on the West Coast. It opened in 1986 and was named the best Spanish
restaurant in the Bay Area by Focus Magazine in 1987.
She is executive chef and owner of Ann Walker Catering.
